On the Bookmobile

I went out yesterday on the Bookmobile! We stopped at Robert Bateman School and Hunt Club Centre. It was a lot of fun, and interesting, and I took notes.

Notes are my new best friend these days; I am answering a lot of questions with "Yes. I was thinking the same thing. It's on my list!" which makes me feel like a moron, but it's just a big fat transition period right now. I kind of hate the feeling that everything is creeping up around me while I take this time to get my bearings, but I am trying not to freak out over it.

So, in the meantime, here's a pic from the ride, and today's recommended read from your wonderful Bookmobile patrons is:

A Wizard in love by Mireille Levert: "Hector, a retired wizard, lives happily and quietly with his cat, Poison, in a dilapidated house at the edge of the forest, until a noisy new neighbor moves into the abandoned house across the road, and things are never the same again."

  4. Does Robert Bateman School really need a bookm obile stop when they have Greenboro so close? Plus the school library is bright, gorgeous and full of new books. Why can't the bookmobile target low income community houses for stops?

  5. Hey Anonymous, you totally hit the nail on the head! It's definitely something we are looking into. The Bookmobile stops were last reviewed in 2007, so they are due.

  6. ...and we do target several low-income areas. You should check out the full map here: http://biblioottawalibrary.ca/en/main/library/location/bookmobile

  7. Wonderful news. Try to target the Banff Community House area - 2 buses to Alta Vista and for some 2 buses to Elmvale Acres so very few in this community use the Ottawa Public Library. The Principal at Riverview Alternative (located close to Banff Community House) has put in numerous requests for a bookmobile stop. So it would be a great help if the bookmobile would stop in this high needs area that has very few walk by resources. Plus the school library is much older then Robert Bateman's school library.
